Gabby Asks: Does Lawyer Mean Liar?

Kids ask the most amusing questions and they don't even know it. A few nights ago, Gabby was asking me whether lawyer means liar. I burst out laughing when I heard the question. I laughed so hard that Gabby looked at me with puzzled exasperation.

I couldn't contain my amusement. I texted a friend, a lawyer, about it. He too was amused and asked me how I answered it. I told him I had to control myself and answer her YES! Lawyer and liar are synonyms. But out of the fondness for my friend, I didn't! I then proceeded to explain to her what lawyers do. 

But to this day, I must say that her question really brings a smile to my face.

One of the perks of being a home based virtual assistant is that I get to pay close attention to my daughter's education. And since I enrolled her in a public school this school year, I am doubly attentive to what she's learning.

Now, upon getting oriented with the Kumon program, I have decided to become more involved in her education. I have asked a cousin to loan me the books her son used in private school. I am also scouring the web for free worksheets that I can copy or print to supplement her lessons.

One site I found is My Child, Power to the Parents. It offers free downloads of English and Math lessons for your kids in four different stages, including SATs. You should check it out for yourself!

Happy Grandparents’ Day

Today, we’re celebrating  Grandparents’ Day. My daughter is with my mom, my uncle, and  my grandmother to celebrate the day.  She made them cards out of multipurpose board that we bought from National Bookstore last Friday.

I must admit that it’s my daughter who reminded of grandparents’ day. We were on our way to SM Muntinlupa when she reminded me about it. Then she asked me why grown-ups forget holidays like this. I was amused since I clearly forgot about it. I just told her that they’re not just going all out for grandparents’ day.

Sore Eye Scare

Several of Gabby's friends have sore eyes. Two of her classmates are missing their classes because of it and one  neighbor of ours, her schoolmate, also has this infection. When we went to the doctor yesterday, a baby also had sore eyes.

It's pretty unusual since it's not summer anymore. Hopefully Gabby won't get infected with it.
